Georgia: The Minister of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health, and Social Welfare of Georgia, Mikheil Sarjveladze, presented a report on the summit held within the UN General Assembly.
The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health, and Social Welfare of Georgia shared the glimpses of the summit event held on its official Facebook Page on Friday, September 26, 2025.
According to the information shared by the Georgian Health Ministry, it was noted that senior officials from different countries participating in the event set out a new vision for prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, as well as promoting mental health and wellbeing – an ambitious and realistic political declaration was made.
Mikheil Sarjveladze, who attended the society, shared his experience in the field of prevention and management of non-communicable diseases. He talked about the results of the Universal Health Care Program and the ongoing reforms.
The Minister stated, “Equality is our main principle – we are working to ensure that displaced groups, rural population, and displaced persons have equal access to health care services.”
According to the Minister of Health, over the past two years, Georgia has significantly increased funding for oncology services and other chronic diseases, made innovative medicines available to the population, expanded the rare disease program, and increased access to life-saving services.
The event was also attended by the Permanent Representative of Georgia to the United Nations, David Bakradze, who actively participated in high-level meetings and thematic discussions.
Mikheil Sarjveladze was on an official visit to the United States. During the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Health took part in high-level meetings and panel discussions. Meetings were held with the heads of the World Health Organization and fellow ministers.
