Givi Mikanadze discusses Vocational Education Reforms

Under the leadership of Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze, the sixth meeting of the Board of Directors of Vocational Educational Institutions in Kutaisi Vocational College “Iberia” was held.

Participants discussed current developments in vocational education and initiatives to be implemented in colleges to improve the learning environment. The Education Minister noted, “We discussed with principals of colleges related to increasing the efficiency of vocational education institutions and their readiness for the next academic year.”

“We have provided information to directors on the main directions of the vocational education reform – in the near future, we will present them the vision concept for the first time, a working document, and listen to feedback from the representatives of colleges,” – said Givi Mikanadze.

The meeting was about existing vocational educational institutions, ssues, challenges, solutions, and the provision of necessary resources. Heads of Vocational Education Institutions had the opportunity to get comprehensive information from the Minister on current affairs and share their views on specific issues.

The meeting of the Council was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Levan Zhasiashvili; Deputy Minister Zviad Gabisonia; representatives of the Ministry; and leaders of vocational educational institutions.

Meetings of the Board of Directors of Vocational Educational Institutions are regularly held at the initiative of the Minister, Givi Mikanadze. The format of the Council serves to discuss issues in the vocational education system and to jointly discuss existing challenges.

After the completion of the meeting, Givi Mikanadze inspected the infrastructure of the college and got acquainted with the construction work of the additional building of the college, which is being supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The building will be equipped with modern educational infrastructure and relevant technical facilities. It will be possible to implement both vocational educational programs, as well as training and training programs on the site.
