Georgia: The Georgian National Olympic Committee (GNOC) hosted a working meeting of the SEOK Executive Committee on March 21, 2025, Friday. The Meeting was headed by the President of SEOK Leri Khabelov and they discussed the issues on the agenda.
The Georgian National Olympic Committee posted glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook page on March 22. The Olympic Committee also shared a small note about the meeting and the discussions held at the meeting.
According to the note shared by GNOC, it should be noted that during the meeting, Mamuka Khabareli, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Bakuriani presented detailed information about the European Winter Youth Olympic Festival held in Georgia on February 9-16, 2025 to the members of the Executive Committee.
It was noted that the European Winter Youth Olympic Festival in Georgia was held at a high organizational level and received a positive rating from athletes, coaches, officials, country leadership, and participants of the recently held General Assembly of European Olympic Committees.
It is noteworthy that out of the 8 sports that were included in the festival program, Georgia participated in three sports events and ranked 15th among 45 European countries. It is particularly noteworthy that during the history of European Winter Youth Olympic Festivals (16 festivals from 1995), a Georgian athlete (Inga Gurgenidze – figure skating) won a gold medal for the first time, which is the result of successful and result-oriented activities of the respective National Sports Federation.
It was announced at the meeting that at the end of 2025 at the SEOK report session will be heard a detailed report about the European Winter Youth Olympic Festival held in Georgia and specific presentations for the development of winter sports in the country will be presented.
At the meeting of the Executive Committee, representatives of the relevant sports federations heard information about the preparation of Georgian athletes for the European Summer Youth Olympic Festival (July, North Macedonia).
Notably, Georgia will participate in the European Summer Youth Olympic Festival in 9 sports. Giorgi Esakia (Head of SEOK Sports Service) was appointed as the head of the Georgian mission in the Olympic Village.
