Georgia: Gogita Todradze, the Executive Director of the National Statistical Service of Georgia (SAQSTAT), held an information meeting in Akhaltsikha municipality within the framework of the 2024 population and agricultural census.
The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Akhaltsikhe Municipality, Irakli Lazarashvili, as well as representatives of local government and self-government from different administrative units.
The meeting’s purpose was to inform the municipality’s representatives about the description’s organizational issues.
During the meeting, Gogita Todradze provided a comprehensive overview of the objectives and tasks of the description, the date of the description, data collection methods, methodology, and the content of the questionnaire, ensuring a thorough and accurate census.
Population census in Georgia will be held from November 14 to December 19, 2024
The description includes two stages:
‪First stage: From November 14-23, the population will self-register throughout the country, which means that citizens will fill out the description questions on the pre-prepared web platform without the help of Saqstat staff.
‪Second stage: From November 29 to December 19, the population will interview up to 11,000 field personnel prepared by Sakstat through particular questionnaires throughout Georgia.
In addition, to optimize resources, an agricultural census, which will collect information about households’ agricultural activity, is planned to be held together with the population description.
The description’s preliminary results will be published in June 2025, and the final results will be available in June 2026.
The up-to-date information about the population, its gender-age structure, employment status and level of education, health, livelihoods and housing conditions will be obtained. These results will be crucial for the municipality’s future planning and development strategies.
