Georgia: Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of the National Statistical Service of Georgia (SAQSTAT), held an information meeting in Dusheti municipality regarding the 2024 population and agricultural census.
A vital information meeting was convened in the municipality to discuss the upcoming population and agricultural census.
The meeting was attended by the mayor of the municipality Bakur Avsajanishvili, as well as representatives of local government and self-government from different administrative units.
The purpose of the meeting was to inform the representatives of the municipality about the organizational issues of the description.
During the meeting, Gogita Todradze discussed the objectives and tasks of the description, its date, data collection methods, methodology, and the content of the questionnaire in detail.
The population census in Georgia is scheduled to take place between November 14 and December 19, 2024. However, due to potential weather challenges, the census will be conducted in September 2024 in some highland and hard-to-reach administrative units, including several administrative units of Dusheti and Mestia, Lentekhi, and Akhmeti, as part of our contingency plan.
In addition, to optimize resources, an agricultural census, which will collect information about households’ agrarian activity, is planned together with the population description.
The description’s preliminary results will be published in June 2025, and the final results will be available in June 2026.
Up-to-date information about the population, its gender-age structure, employment status, and level of education, health, livelihoods, and housing conditions will be obtained.
