Georgia: Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of the National Statistical Service of Georgia (SAQSTAT), held an information meeting in Gori municipality within the framework of the 2024 population and agricultural census.
The meeting was attended by Vladimir Khinchagashvili, the Mayor of Gori Municipality, and representatives of local government and self-government from different administrative units.
The meeting’s purpose was to underscore the crucial role of the municipality’s representatives in the successful organization of the census.
During the meeting, Gogita Todradze discussed the description’s objectives and tasks, its date, data collection methods, methodology, and questionnaire content in detail.
Population census in Georgia will be held from November 14 to December 19, 2024
The description includes two stages:
- ‪First stage: From November 14-23, the population will self-register throughout the country, which means that citizens will fill out the description questions on the pre-prepared web platform without the help of Saqstat staff.
- ‪Second stage: From November 29 to December 19, the population will interview up to 11,000 field personnel prepared by Sakstat through particular questionnaires throughout Georgia.
In addition, to optimize resources, an agricultural census, which will collect information about households’ agrarian activity, will be held together with the population description.
The preliminary census results will be published in June 2025, and the final results will be available in June 2026, providing ample time for analysis and planning.
The comprehensive data collection will provide up-to-date information about the population, its gender-age structure, employment status and level of education, health, livelihoods, and housing conditions.
