The large number of people took to street in Gori against Russification of Georgia’s foreign policy. The protestors have been organising rallies since last six days to put pressure on Georgian ruling remine for course correction in this direction.
It is worth to note that the city of Gori is well familiar with the Russia and its policies towards Georgian people especially who are living in occupied territories. While continuing these protests on Tuesday large gathering of students and their family took place near central part of Gori.
They called other people to join their protests also. They have criticised Georgia ruling party Georgian Dream for not resisting Russian interference in internal affairs of country.
According to them if necessary immediate steps are note taken this could damage image of Georgia. Moreover protesters expressed deep concerns that in future this growing influence of Russia on foreign policy of Georgia will damage its relations with other countries.
The young member participation in protests while talking to media houses also sheaded light on past experience. They underlined how Abkhaz war caused huge loss to Georgian citizens. They specifically mentioned incident in which a father and uncle were killed.
Moreover young protesters also highlighted ruins of occupied Gori in year 2008 and the pain the Ukrainians peoples who are still suffering in hand of Russian forces today.
A student protestor revealed that many students wanted to join the protest, but they are being threatened by Georgian authorities. The government officials are threatening them to face reaction if they came on streets against ruling regime to criticise its foreign policy.
Notably the city of Gori is known for loud, strong voices against anti-people policies of Government. This time again students of senior classes as well as school children are actively participating in these protest rallies as well.
On the other hand school children’s also showed their respect and commitment towards Georgian values of democracy and rule of law. They also support Pro-European policies of Government so that more progressing steps in Georgia can be taken as per European Rules and regulations.
