The Chairman of the Adjara Government Tornike Rizhvadze along with the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports of Adjara, Maia Khajishvili and the Mayor of Batumi Archil Chikovan recently visited the school construction sites at Batumi to get the information about the construction process of schools in Batumi.
According to chairman Tornike Rizhvadze, construction of new schools and rehabilitation of existing schools are actively underway in the Adjara region and the work will be completed very soon in the near future. He also added that in the coming years the number of schools with more than 30,000 students will improve and there will be increased access to modern education.
It is to be specifically mentioned that Construction of a new public school is underway in the central part of Batumi at the intersection of Demetre Dededuli and Ilia Chavchavadze streets.
As per the plans a three-story school building that will be accessible for children with physical disabilities will be completed very soon. He also added that the school will have the capacity to accommodate about 1,400 students.
The new school building will also have classrooms, a gym and activity hall, a library, a multi-purpose storage room, and an open gym.
The new building is under construction on the territory of the N16 Public School of Batumi. This is supposed to benefit a large number of local students across the country by providing them with a quality education. According to the project, a three-storey building will be built which is expected to have 2000 students in the near future.
It is to be added that in addition to classrooms the building will also have laboratories, a library, a computer room, and an auditorium for 300 spectators. The open and closed sports fields will be established for the number of sports activities. The building has been adapted for students of all ages, and the elevator has been installed.
Meanwhile, it comes to public knowledge that “ This year the budget for infrastructure improvement of public schools of the program is more than 37,000,000 GEL. Moreover within the budget 125 public schools construction and rehabilitation works will also be carried out, including the construction of 9 public schools in Batumi and complete/partial rehabilitation of 16 public schools is planned.
