Georgia: A 14-person group of wine professionals from the People’s Republic of China visited Georgia, supported by the National Wine Agency of Georgia and organized by the agency’s contractor marketing company, Meiburg Wine Media.
“Georgian wine is a unique heritage not only for Georgia but for the whole world,” said the Chinese wine professional Dorian Tang.
During the tour, the members of the group, which included sommeliers and importers, embarked on a unique wine journey. They visited wine factories in Kartli and Kakheti, and savored the diverse styles of Georgian wines.
A unique tasting (Walkaround Tasting) was held for guests in Tbilisi, where wines of 15 Georgian wine producers were presented. Irakli Cholobargia, the representative of the Department of Marketing and Public Relations of the National Wine Agency, presented a presentation to the guests about the history of Georgian wine, modern industry, Georgian grapes, and the diversity of wine varieties.
“I think Georgian wine has a great future and potential. Georgian wine is unique because you have a special tradition of setting and producing wine, such as the different methods of setting Kevri’s wind-colored wine. This is a unique heritage not only for Georgia but for the whole world”, – said the member of the group, Dorian Tang.
Dorian Tang is one of the five wine professionals trained by Meiburg Wine Media as part of the Georgian Wine Education Program. Since 2022, they have been conducting seminars and educational events in Asian countries to promote Georgian wine.
It is noteworthy that China is one of the prominent strategic markets of Georgian wine. To increase the popularity and export of Georgian wine, a marketing campaign has been actively underway since 2013. National Wine Agency, to implement the Georgian wine marketing campaign, cooperates with marketing company Meiburg Wine Media and wine master Cassidy Dart on the Chinese market.
