Tbilisi: Giorgi Bolkvadze, the head of winning project “Empowering youth in Emergencies” highlighted role of youth to tackling emergencies situations. His winning project focused on enhancing youth participation in emergency situations.
According to Giorgi Bolkvadze, this project is very important and provides young people with practical skills in crisis situations, such as rapid response, leadership development, cooperation and improved communication. He said in coming days more awareness camps will be organised to raise awareness among youth on these issues.
According to him Adjara, as a Black Sea region often faces natural hazards such as floods, landslides and sea storms, which are part of the risks caused by climate change. In such conditions, the awareness and preparedness of young people becomes critically important.
It is worth to mention that, along with other thing the goal of the project was to strengthen the potential of young people so that they can become active and effective supporters of society in crisis situations. The young people are the most mobilized social group, capable of rapid response and use modern technologies to quickly disseminate information in emergency situation around their localities.
He said that the as part of the project, young people have acquired skills that will not only help them manage the crisis but also contribute to their personal and professional development. The exceptionally important project also covered skills such as critical decision-making, teamwork, and leadership which will allow them to engage in emergency management, thereby contributing to increasing public resilience in Adjara.
Notably this initiative contributes to the formation of a more inclusive and prepared society, where young people are at the forefront of implementing preventive measures and informing the public.
As a result the culture of safety in Adjara will be further strengthened and the region will be able to cope with challenges with a new standard of preparedness.
