A two-day working meeting was recently held in Batumi on the theme of “Strengthening primary healthcare and hospital sector to improve patient services.” The meeting was opened in Batumi under the guidence of the World Health Organization.
On the first day of the meeting the Adjara Minister of Health and Social Welfare Nino Nizharadze welcomed the participants. He further said that within the framework of primary healthcare reform such meetings and sharing experiences are important for doctors and nurses in this sector. At the same time he thanked them for their active cooperation and wished them success.
It is to be added that this significant meeting was attended by Tea Giorgadze, the Deputy Minister of Refugees from the Occupied Territories of Georgia, and Mari Zanakidze, the First Deputy Minister of Health of Adjara. The main goal of primary healthcare reform in Georgia is to strengthen the primary healthcare system and equal access to services throughout the country.
Many people and others associated with the health sector attended the meeting. Key speakers held a presentation on the health ministry’s various schemes and plans. The people also shared their views on this occasion. They demanded modern health diagnosing machines for better health facilities at hospitals and other health faculties.
The role of the Primary Health Centre occupied the central stage. As the PHC is the first center to be approached for health services, almost all the locality’s citizens demanded the upliftment of PHC infrastructure. The health ministry official assured us that more and more initiatives will be taken to improve the health services.
