Mikheil Sarjveladze attends economic forum’s discussion on health sector

Mikheil Sarjveladze, the Minister of Health, Labour, and Social Welfare of Georgia, participated in the discussion recently held within the framework of the Economic Forum. The forum discussed the various aspects of the country's health sector.

The Health Ministry of Georgia has taken many initiatives in the past years to improve the country’s health services. At this latest forum, the participants discussed the various challenges and  opportunity currently existing in health sector of  the country.

 

On this occasion  Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze spoke about ongoing reforms in the country’s health sector and future plans. The minister added that “it is important to strengthen further and develop healthcare services in Georgia. Moreover  the  shortage of health specialists, especially nurses, was identified as the biggest challenge that needs immediate attention.”

 

At the same time  experts  focus was on the DRG (Diagnosis-related Group ) funding model and its importance while sharing their discussion. The forum participants emphasized that the implementation of reforms as well as the implementation of resuscitation and surgery standards  can significantly contribute to improving the quality of the health sector. It was noted at the meeting that cooperation with the sector and relevant agencies would continue in all these directions for the upliftment of health services in the country as well.”

On the other hand Davit Onofrishvili, the head of the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia and Irakli Gogia  the general director of the “Georgia Health Care Group ” while expressing their views  underlined the importance of a stable health sector.

 

It is also worth noting that the event was organized by the online media platform Business Insider Georgia. In addition to the minister of health, the Deputy Ministers of Health, Irine Tsakadze and Thea Giorgadze  and representatives of public agencies and the private sector attended the forum . A dedicated presentation was also held to apprise the attendees of all the aspects of the country’s health sector.
