Kutaisi, Georgia: Prisoners of Kutaisi No2 Penitentiary Institution will also be able to receive the services of the House of Justice at the place of punishment.
The Minister of Justice of Georgia, Rati Bregadze, opened a branch of the House of Justice in Kutaisi Penitentiary Institution together with the heads of the House of Justice and Prison Service.
Another innovative project of the Ministry of Justice, “Digital University,” has been launched in the institution. It enables convicted students to receive full-fledged higher education remotely, participate in the university learning process, attend lectures online, and have direct, interactive communication with lecturers.
The work of justice houses in prison institutions is Georgian innovation, and it has no analogy to any country in the world. More than 50 services are available to convicts through the branches of the House of Justice.
The branches of the House of Justice also serve the employees of the Penitentiary Service.
In prison, people who trust a third party could receive the service or communicate with the Justice House by writing. In both cases, the service took into account long wait times and insufficiently flexible procedures.
With the opening of the House of Justice branches in the prison system, inmate services will be just as comfortable as any visitor to the House of Justice.
Houses of Justice and the “Digital University” project will gradually include other penitentiary institutions.
Later, Rati Bregadze held a working meeting at Kutaisi House of Justice. He got acquainted with the initiatives and needs of the employees of the Ministry of Justice, received information about existing challenges and discussed ways to respond to them.
The meeting was held in question-answer mode. Dialogue between the leadership and staff of the Ministry of Justice contributes to the rapid response to problems and, accordingly, the proper functioning of regional offices.
Deputy Minister Erekle Ghvinianidze and Chairman of the House of Justice Lasha Lobjanidze attended the meeting at the Kutaisi House of Justice, as well as employees of the House of Justice, Agency for State Services Development, National Agency for Public Registry, National Archives, National Bureau of Enforcement, Crime Prevention, Prison Enforcement and Probation Agency I, and the notaries.
