Tbilisi, Georgia: A free training session “Journalism for students” was held at the International Black Sea University (IBSU), Tbilisi on February 3, 2025, Monday.
In the training session, the students of the Bachelor’s Program in Journalism of the Black Sea International University introduced the basic aspects and features of the journalism profession to the students of the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades.
The main aim of the training session was to empower aspiring journalists from all walks of life. It is designed in a way to provide high quality training at no cost.
The project participants learned the structure of news writing, journalistic ethics issues, and ways to identify misinformation through various online means through practical and fun tasks.
The main topics covered by the IBSU’s students in the free training are:
- Ethical, fact-based, and balanced journalistic storytelling
- Techniques for producing multimedia (photo, video, audio, text) products (shooting, editing)
- The use and role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the profession
- Principles and models for creating media start-ups and managing media organizations
- Marketing and distribution of multimedia products through various social and digital platforms
- Basic theories, contemporary approaches, and directions in journalism, media, and communication
- Working with databases, information retrieval, and critical analysis
- Academic and applied research methods in the field of communication
The participants enhanced their overall professional skills and gained a better understanding of the media sector. Such type of journalism training offers an opportunity to individuals who have been hindered by financial constraints to pursue a career in journalism.
After the training session, the students also visited IBSU’s media center, and television and radio spaces and got to know the students’ workspace through role-playing games.
At the end of the training, the participants were given IBSU-branded gifts, certificates and gift which were sponsored from ‘My Publishing House‘.
