Marab Danelia The regional coordinator of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) held a meeting at the Chkhorotsku Municipality Hall. This meeting was held to introduce farmers and stakeholders to the program for modernisation of the farming sector and market access.
This meeting was also attended by the municipality’s mayor, Dato Gogua, and the Head of the Information-Consulting Service, Dato Gakharia along with many other stakeholders who want to invest in the country’s agriculture sector.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the main goal of the state program of irrigation modernisation and market access is to develop a rural economy and to promote a competitive, diversified and sustainable irrigation sector. The aim of the program is to promote sustainability and flexibility for small milk producers.
As the rural agriculture sector is the backbone of the country, many initiatives are being taken by the central and state governments to make it profitable. A large number of people who are still wholly dependent on the agriculture sector need special attention.
To make farmers capable of competing in the international markets, it is necessary to provide them with the required facilities and skills. It is to be added that this decimated program provides for the co-financing of the purchase/creation of basic means and insurance premiums.
Many times bad and unexpected weather causes huge losses to farms and farm products. Many insurance schemes have been launched in the past to upgrade the level of farmers.
At the same time the program will finance both the start-up of a new business and the expansion/modernisation of the existing one in the following direction/objective, which includes:
- Primary milk production, veterinary and artificial weaning, alternative activities for youth, milk collection point, milk processing plant.
Applications for the program will start on February 5, 2024, at 12 o’clock as per the latest information.The program is implemented with the financial support of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
