Ilia State University to host conference to mark cyber security month

Tbilisi: The Ilia State University of Georgia announced to host a meeting on October 11 in the context of “Cyber Security Awareness” month observed in October every year.

The meeting will include students as well as teaching and non-teaching staff of the University. It will be held on October 11 in the G106 conference hall of the University at 14:00.  The ” Digital Governance Agency” and Ilia State University are organising the meeting with mutual coordination.

It is worth noting that the “Digital Governance Agency” conducts interactive events based on Georgia’s Cyber ​​Security Strategy and Action Plan. These events are held to provide the general public with information on cyber threats and methods of protection against them and to raise awareness of cyber security.

The meeting aims to teach the mechanisms for protecting the principles of confidentiality, integrity and availability of information. It will also provide information the attendees to increase their knowledge about cyber security, reduce risks and master the minimum rules of cyber hygiene.

The lecture at this meeting will be delivered in Georgian. Moreover at the end of the meeting, a fun interactive quiz will be held. Symbolic prizes will also be awarded to the winners of the quiz competition.

Ilia State University took to its social media handles to share information on this development as well. The event organiser urged the students, teaching staff and other participants to participate in the event as much as possible.

It is also to be noted that this year’s theme of the month is “SECURE THE WORLD.” This theme reflects how cyber criminals have caused multiple threats to users.

As technology has brought many significant changes in our daily lives, it has also created many challenges regarding online security. The increased number of online transnational crimes created many problems for law enforcement agencies.

There are many cybercriminals who use online methods to execute their illegal plans. They usually make less aware people their victims.
