As per ancient traditions and customs  this year the Kvemo Kartli region hosted the event. Musicians, singers, and other folk artists presented various cultural activities on the spot. Some of the main activities were folklore, painting, literature, traditional cuisine, and others.

It is worth noting that the event was attended by the State Trustee of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti District Davit Nozadze. The state Trustee of Kvemo Kartli District  Giorgi Dokhturishvili, the Mayor of Mtskheti Municipality  Dimitri Zurabishvili  and other administration representatives accompanied him.

State Trustee of Mtskheta-Mtianeti District Davit Nozadze  speaking on the occasion  added that “Ilia Chavchavadze is a symbol of united Georgia. His visions and opinions are most precious to each of us because every step and action of Ilia was aimed at strengthening the Georgian state and society.

“Moroevr his creativity stirred up national self-awareness and state thinking. Ilia Chavchavadze’s contribution to the motherland is priceless; therefore  it is our duty to preserve his name forever for future generations” added State Trustee of Mtskheta-Mtianeti District Davit Nozadze.

According to Davit Nozadze  it should be noted that today  together with the day of commemoration of Ilia Chavchavadze  is also the day of the Angel of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, his Holiness and Blessed Ilia II  and we need to follow in their footsteps.

In addition   Davit Nozadze  stated   today  the Orthodox Church celebrates the commemoration day of Prophet Ilia Tezbiteli. That’s why I would like to congratulate you on these important dates and wish you to live in a united, peaceful, and free Georgia!”.

Notably  since Ilia Chavchavadze’s death  the “Iliaobi” holiday was not celebrated until 2014. However  in 2014  at the initiative of the Ilia Chavchavadze Saguramo State Museum  the holiday was revived with an updated format.

In 2014  Adjara hosted the “Iliaoba” later on in the subsequent years  Samegrelo, Abkhazia, Imereti, Guria, Svaneti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Samtskhe-Javakheti were the host of the same as well.
