Georgia: The 10th Jubilee International Festival of Regional Theater, held with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia, ended with diverse and exciting events. On the last festival day in Poti, a Polish lady presented the play “Camera that my mother gave me.” The audience also saw Ozurgeti State Professional Dramatic Theater’s play, The Door of the Sky”.

The 10th International Festival of Regional Theater, founded with the support of the Ministry of Culture, was hosted by the municipalities of Poti and Senaki from July 26 to August 1. Both local and foreign sisters, including theater collectives from Romania and Poland, participated in this year’s festival.

On July 26, the festival was opened in the Senaki State Dramatic Theater, which was restored with the support of the Foundation “Kartu” with the presentation of the festival’s ten-year history catalog, which the Ministry of Culture promoted. It should be noted that the interest in this year’s festival was great, and the number of spectators speaks for itself.

On the occasion of the festival’s 10th anniversary, the organizers presented appreciation awards to the festival’s supporters, theater experts, artistic directors of Poti and Senaki theaters, and mayors of these municipalities. The culmination of the event was a concert. Neka Sebiskveradze and Dato Nozadze’s duet was presented to the audience.

Guests—directors, theater critics, and theater and film actors—attended events during the festival.

One of the Ministry of Culture’s priorities is promoting and developing theaters in the regions and activating cultural processes in the areas. As a result of the competitions announced by the Ministry, theatrical actresses introduce their work to audiences from different parts of Georgia. This tradition must allow the people of the regions to participate in various critical, creative processes and attend performances by foreign theaters.

For information, the International Festival of Regional Theater was founded in Poti by the Ministry of Culture of Georgia in 2015. Since then, it has offered diverse and exciting performances to the audience every year.

The Cultural and Educational Foundation organizes the festival, and its artistic director is Nineli Chankvetadze.
