Irakli Chikovani, the defence minister of Georgia recently visited Germany to attend Ramstein meeting. The 25th session of this meeting was attended by number of countries to extend their support to Ukraine.
The defence ministry of Georgia while sharing information on official Facebook page revealed about this development. According to information, “Georgian Défense Minister Irakli Chikovani Participated in Rammstein Air Base Meeting. The Georgian Défense Minister was on a visit to the Federal Republic of Germany to discuss situation of Russia-Ukraine conflcit.”
This very significant meeting under Ramstein format was attended by the heads of defence agencies of the countries supporting Ukraine and high-ranking officials from armed forces of the respective countries.
Notably the Ramstein format meeting on Ukraine was opened by the United States of America’s Secretary of Defence. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a speech at the 25th Ramstein format meeting together with Lloyd Austin.
On this meeting both of them reviewed the current situation of the war in Ukraine and discussed the urgent and long-term needs for coordinated military assistance to Ukraine. The US Secretary of Défense spoke about the further assistance package for Ukraine and noted that this is his last participation in the format meeting.
The Ramstein format, initiated by the United States was established in April 2022 and brings together more than 50 countries supporting Ukraine. All the representative of members countries has discussed measures that can be implemented to assist Ukraine in war against Russia invasion. All these 50 countries are presently supporting Ukraine and assured to extend every possible assistance.
Along with other leaders the defence minister of Germany also addressed attendees. The minister revealed that in case United Staes of America retreated from its position as suspected due to new government of USA then Germany and other allies’ group of countries about Ukraine will take call for further action.
The US Defence Secretary in this meeting however urged all allies’ countries of Ukraine to continue their support of Georgian against Russian invasion.
