The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze congratulated the citizens of Georgia involved in the development of the nation’s road infrastructure on Georgian Professional Day.
He also thanked them for their great fruitful work. He shared glimpses of his speech on his official Facebook page in his recent post.
“The result of their tireless work is that this year we have completed 6 important projects for the development of international highways of Georgia or crossed the milestone,”- the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure mentioned in his post.
Irakli Karseladze thanked the employees of the Department of Roads, contractor organizations, Georgian and foreign specialists, employees of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, partner agencies, and international financial institutions for their work and noted that the year 2024 was outstanding in achievements and results.
“This year, the longest Kisheti-Kobi 9 km tunnel in Georgia has been cut, we have opened Zestafoni 9 km bypass, Tsnori bypass 18 km, Tbilisi-Sagarejo 35 km and Batumi bypass 14 km. Overall, 48 km of Ricoti’s new highway is opened for motor transport, which already reduces the travel distance by 8 km and halves the travel time,”- stated Irakli Karseladze.
According to the minister, the development of Georgia’s international road corridors continues actively and as of today, the country’s territory is already using 367 km of highway. Development of new sections of highways and rehabilitation of road infrastructure continues.
In the year 2024 in the 149 road rehabilitation projects across the country, 1100 km of road rehabilitation works were carried out, from which 450 km of road rehabilitation will be completed within 101 projects by the end of the year.
“Our country is an integral part of the most important trade and transit international transport network, and developing its road infrastructure with modern standards is our top priority. In addition, by implementing unprecedented projects on a scale and engineering complexity, we are promoting the development of the road construction sector. Once again, I congratulate the representatives of the field on their professional day and wish them a lot of professional success,” said the minister of regional development and infrastructure.
