Georgia: With a joint effort, the Minister of Regional Development, Irakli Karseladze, is building standard stadiums for new champions and even more amateurs and professional athletes to grow. In 2023, they hosted the UEFA U21 European Championship with dignity.
Irakli Karseladze said, “Due to our accumulated experience, we have constructed and rehabilitated 11 stadiums. We have already opened the UEFA category stadium in Marneuli. In addition, the Ministry’s sports projects must be implemented in Zugdidi, Akhaltsikhe, Tsnori, Bolnis, Arkhiloskalo, and many other locations. We are developing sports infrastructure.
“Kutaisi already has an Olympic swimming pool, and Rustav also has a multifunctional sports complex, and of course, we will continue to work and develop in this direction,” – Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze announced at the opening of a new football stadium in Marneuli.
A tribune with 2000 fans was built on the new, artificially covered football stadium, and the stadium lighting and sound systems were installed.
The stadium complex includes all necessary spaces according to UEFA standards (Category II): changing rooms, showers, fast food and teleporting spaces, and other agricultural and technical warehouses.
The stadium has a modern fire system and is fully adapted for people with disabilities.
The project was implemented with energy efficiency measures, including energy-saving solutions for heating-conditioning, ventilation and lighting systems, roofing insulation, and walls.
The new stadium will promote football and a healthy lifestyle among young people of Marneuli and the region and host local and international tournaments.
The project, implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, was funded by the state budget, demonstrating our commitment to its long-term sustainability. Its total value is 8.2 million GEL, a testament to our prudent financial management and dedication to the development of our sports infrastructure.
