Kakha Kakabadze meets with head of Tajiket State Forest Agency

The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, Kakha Kakabadze met with the head of Tajiket State Forest Agency Abdujabar Yusufzoda. The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Forest Agency and relevant government agencies of Tajiketi.

Georgia: The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, Kakha Kakabadze met with the head of Tajiket State Forest Agency Abdujabar Yusufzoda. The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Forest Agency and relevant government agencies of Tajiketi.

The parties talked about sharing experience of Georgia in the field of forest management and the prospect of future cooperation; Georgian specialists introduced Tajik colleagues to the current practices of forest, biodiversity, protected areas and agriculture management.

“It is important for us to have the interest of our colleagues in the practice we have in the field of forest management, biodiversity protection and agriculture. It is noteworthy that the forest sector of Georgia has always stood out in the region.

The next plantation went through quite difficult stages. Since 2013, reforms have been started that will strengthen the forest sector, plant sustainable forest management principles and consequently bring ecological, economic and social benefits to our population. Each relevant organization in the Ministry’s system improves its activities annually to achieve its goals,” – said Kakha Kakabadze, Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture.

During the visit, the members of the delegation will visit the array of forest burned in 2008 and 2017, in Borjomi Valley, where they will get acquainted with approaches and practices related to forest restoration in Georgia.

It is noteworthy that restoration works in the forest burnt in Borjomi Valley were carried out on an area of 636 ha and in total up to 346 thousand seedlings were planted.

In order to create a sustainable forest ecosystem, measures to promote the natural renewal of forests were also implemented. Members of the delegation will also learn about the measures to fight harmful diseases on the territory of Borjomi Plateau; also, they will visit the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park Visitor Center.

At the end of the working visit, the members of the delegation of the State Forestry Agency of the Republic of Tajiket visited the trial and demonstration base of the Agriculture Research Center, Jighaura to inspect the Certification Research Service Laboratory.
