Tbilisi, Georgia: The Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, held a working meeting in the Tbilisi City Hall with the leadership of “Georgian Water and Power (GWP).“
The mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, with deputies Irakli Bendeliani and Kakha Guledan, met Jose Miguel Santos Gonzalez, CEO of Georgian Water and Power Company (GWP), and Asset Management Director Giga Nadiradze at the city hall.
At the meeting near the village of Tsitsamuri, they discussed the problems of water supply in Tbilisi due to damage to one of the city’s most important central highway water pipelines and the plan to solve them intensively.
The mayor of Tbilisi asked the company representatives to communicate continuously with the population and provide detailed information on damage recovery and water supply.
“The water supply in the capital must be restored quickly; until then, the population should have more information about the water supply schedule.” The municipality is ready to help GWP, whether equipment or something else, to restore water supply to the people of Tbilisi as fast as possible,” said Kakha Kaladze.
Representatives of GWP have provided detailed information to the capital’s mayor about the ongoing work to solve Tbilisi’s water supply problems.
According to the company’s CEO, the reconstruction of the damaged highway will be carried out in 24 hours and, according to the existing plan, will be completed within a week.
He said 63,000 subscribers established a particular water supply regime during this time. In addition, a sufficient number of auto-cisterns have already been mobilized, through which the population will supply drinking water.
According to Irakli Bendeliani, works to fully restore the capital’s water supply will be carried out in a 24-hour mode.
“We had a working meeting with the company GWP representatives and the capital city’s mayor. During the last two days, some parts of the population of Tbilisi have been supplied drinking water with delays,”- said the Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi.
He also stated, “The reason is natural processes created in Saguramo, which damaged the drinking water highway. Naturally, from the beginning, the fact was due to the company’s backlash, with necessary crews on site 24 hours a day. Currently, approximately 63,000 subscribers are provided drinking water by schedule.”
“In addition, at the request of the population, water will be supplied through relevant reservoirs. These 63,000 subscribers will receive drinking water on schedule for one week. Approximately, this period will be necessary to eliminate the damage,” mentioned the Tbilisi deputy mayor.
