Khashuri Municipality, Georgia: A new multifunctional sports complex “New Bana” will be opened in Khashuri Municipality of Georgia. Construction works on the sports complex in the municipality have started.
The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Kakhaber Guledan visited the site and inspected the construction works of a sports complex in Khashuri. Notably, Minister Kakhaber Guledan is actively monitoring the construction of infrastructure projects in the municipality.
The Ministry of Regional Development of Georgia posted glimpses of the construction works of the new sports complex along with a small note about the complex on its official Facebook page on June 4, 2025, Wednesday.
Along with the Minister of Regional Development of Georgia Kakhaber Guledan, the First Deputy Levan Zavutashvili, State Commissioner of Internal Georgia Simon Guledan, Member of Parliament Zaal Dugladze, and Mayor of Khashuri Municipality Tengiz Chitiashvili, also got acquainted with “New Bana” multifunctional complex, which is under construction in Khashuri.
“New Bana” Project
“New Bana” is a unique complex, within which it is planned to unite monastic, educational, economic, cultural, and social spaces in one space. Its construction began in 2017 with the prayer-blessing of Catholic Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia. The author of the project is Bishop of Surami and Khashuri Eparchy Bishop Svimeon.
It is noteworthy that the main temple of the complex is an analogy to the historical Bana Temple in Tao-Klarjeti, located in the territory of modern Turkey – one of the outstanding monuments in the history of Georgian Khurot monks.
Khashuri’s newly built vocational school is located near the Bana complex, where youths and aspirants have an opportunity to get an education in an environment that meets modern standards.
Bishop Simeon introduced the concept of the complex, the construction process of the temple, and its historical and cultural significance to the authorities and guests in detail. In addition, guests got to see the infrastructure of vocational education and hear about the opportunities education offers students.
