The Kutaisi International University (KIU) has responded to recent media reports, stating that some information being circulated about its student policies has been taken out of context and is misleading the public.
It is widely known that KIU is constantly focused on providing access to high-quality European education and improving the infrastructure, academic environment, and student services. Part of the development is the implementation of an updated cost policy for student housing at the University, which will be effective from the spring 2026 semester next year.
Before making changes, the University administration is open for dialogue and is always ready to answer students’ questions, listen to their opinions and recommendations, discuss their needs, and work on solutions that will contribute to a better and more diverse student experience.
It was emphasized that the tariffs in the residential campuses of Kutaisi International University 5 years ago were determined on the basis of the analysis of market prices at that time. In order to keep infrastructure functioning properly and provide a quality living environment, relying on market analysis, a balanced, optimal new pricing model that targets the high-quality infrastructure and services used by students daily is needed.
It is of utmost importance that the university has the “Undergraduate Student Grant Fund“, in which various categories of tuition and accommodation will be provided, as well as monthly stipends. The grants cover both academic and social aspects, as well as co-financing and institutional categories. Rector’s and academic scholarships are also available for students with a higher academic background.
Each new academic year, the University provides university grant funding to make it available to all students to receive a grant from the Undergraduate Student Grant Fund. In addition, the demand for GPA has increased, aimed at providing scholarships, particularly to students with higher academic output, to further boost their motivation and improve their quality of study.
It is also emphasized that one of the main advantages of Kutaisi International University is its university campus, which includes modern study and residential buildings, a library, conference spaces, cafeterias, sports grounds, and recreation areas.
The student accommodation is equipped with single and double rooms, auditoriums, a gym, a cinema and music rooms, a chess club, and washing and drying areas. The university functions as a mental health center and a doctor’s office. The above services are free for all KIU students. They are exempt from all utility bills and come with free Wi-Fi.
