Georgia: The delegation of Kutaisi International University (KIU) is on a working visit to the Republic of South Korea on Thursday, November 13, 2025. During the visit, they visited the Inchon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ), one of Asia’s most developed economic and innovation hubs.
The delegation includes the Acting Rector of KIU, Director of Kutaisi University City Vakhtang Tsagareli, and Head of International Relations Service of KIU Giorgi Pipia.
The visit aimed to share technological innovation and industrial experience, as well as to expand international educational-research cooperation.
The Georgian delegation met Professor Lee Sang Ho, Assistant Director of Smart IT Operations Group of IFEZ Innovation and City Growth Strategy Department. He introduced the guests to IFEZ’s development model, which includes ultra-modern digital infrastructure, urban design, and smart governance.
Dr. Sun Dong Yoo, Professor of Research and Entrepreneurship Foundation at Incheon University, an expert on industrial-educational cooperation, was also represented on the Korean side. The meeting was attended by Georgian Emergency and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Tarash Papaskua and Despan Mikheil Tigishvili.
IFEZ representatives expressed their readiness to implement joint initiatives with Kutaisi International University (KIU) and Kutaisi University City (KUCA) in education, research, and innovative infrastructure development, further strengthening KIU as a leading innovation and entrepreneurial hub in the region.
As noted at the meeting, the Government of the Republic of Korea supports the implementation of international projects aimed at developing educational and industrial hubs.
