The folk festival ‘Khinotsminda Day’ was celebrated in the village of Khinotsminda. The Chairman of the Adjara Government, along with his wife, attended the events planned as part of the festival.
In connection with “Khinotsmindaoba”, a festive molebeny was performed by Archimandrite Eudemus at the Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist.
Participants of the celebration:
- Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Government of Adjara;
- Tsotne Ananidze, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara;
- the Mayor of Kobuleti Municipality, Irakli Tsetskhladze,
- the head of the Monastery of St John the Baptist in Khinvsim, Archimandrite Father Eudemus
In his congratulatory speech, the Chairman of the Adjara Government spoke about the importance of preserving Khino’s historical, spiritual, and cultural heritage and continuing infrastructure projects in the valley.
‘Khino’s Day’ is being celebrated especially today in this beautiful valley of the Kobuleti municipality. Year after year, more and more people and families gather here. It is to Khino that the origins of many surnames living in Kobuleti are linked – here lies our strength, spirituality, and identity. Today, the clergy and laity, the congregation and the local population, celebrate this important festival together. Notably, it is our duty to preserve and further strengthen this heritage,” noted Zurab Pataradze.
Most importantly, it is worth noting that the event, which has been celebrated since 2015, was dedicated this year to the 1700th anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity as the state religion in Georgia.
As part of the “Khinotsminda Day” programme, a scientific conference was held. The theme of the conference was “Patriarch Ilia II and Georgia.” Moreover, an awards ceremony was also held. The Chairman of the Adjara Government awarded the “True Khinvimdzeli” certificate to the honorary representative of the valley, Avtandil Bezhanidze.
The event continued with a cultural programme, which featured the Adjara State Vocal Ensemble “Batumi”, actors from the Batumi Dramatic Theatre, and pupils from the Batumi Choral School.
The organisation of the Adjara Ministry of Culture and the Kobuleti Municipality hosted the folk festival. The members of the regional government and the Supreme Council, representatives of the local self-government, and clergy attended the festival.
