Georgia: A Memorandum of cooperation has been signed between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Kutaisi International University. The documents were signed by the rector of KIU, Professor Giorgi Khubua, and the representative of the company “Huawei” company the Tbilisi office Lu Penghong.
It is to be noted that Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. is a Chinese multinational conglomerate technology corporation headquartered in Longgang District, Shenzhen, Guangdong province.
The memorandum provides for cooperation between parties in improving research potential in Georgia and the growing competencies of young Georgian researchers.
At the signing ceremony, Alexander Tsuladze addressed the audience with a welcome speech, talked about the importance of cooperation with global technology companies, and noted that the memorandum was another step towards the internationalization of education.
Within the framework of the memorandum, Kutaisi international University (KIU) will become the first higher education institution in Georgia, where global technology company Huawei ICT Academy will be opened and the university will be gradually formed as a technology hub in the region.
Notably, ensuring high-quality, inclusive education and universal access to research is one of the top priorities and ambitious goals of the Georgian government.
It is worth noting that, KIU students and professors will have access to the latest technologies, resources, and educational initiatives. Young people will have the opportunity to take part in international competitions and work with students from the world’s leading universities on international projects.
Students will also be given a unique opportunity to intern at “Huawei” company, with the prospect of future employment. Important that the Academy offers KIU professors training programs led by foreign experts.
The event was also attended by Georgian Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth Giorgi Jincharadze, State Trustee in Imereti Levan Zalkaliani, representatives of Foundation “Kartu” and other guests.
