Kvareli celebrates New Year with local talent 

Kvareli in the Kakheti region welcomed the New Year with a festive event featuring local performers and folk ensembles. The event was held at the central square of Kvareli and attracted hundreds of residents and visitors.

Kvareli, Georgia: Kvareli in the Kakheti region welcomed the New Year with a festive event featuring local performers and folk ensembles. The event was held at the central square of Kvareli and attracted hundreds of residents and visitors.

The mayor of the municipality of Kvareli, Givi Zautashvili, addressed the crowd and congratulated them on the New Year. He wished them happiness, success and progress in the coming year. He also praised the cultural heritage and achievements of Kvareli, which is known for its wine production and historical landmarks.

The mayor also awarded honorary citizenship to five distinguished individuals who have contributed to the development and promotion of Kvareli. They are Tamar Metreveli, a famous singer and actress; David Somkhishvili, a renowned painter and sculptor; Tina Nazrishvili, a prominent journalist and writer; David Loliashvili, a respected educator and researcher; and Vakhtang Tsivtsivadze, a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist.

The New Year event ended with a grand fireworks display that lit up the sky over Kvareli. The event was organized by the Kvareli municipality and supported by the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia. It was part of the nationwide celebrations of the New Year and the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Georgia.

Kvareli is a town in northeastern Kakheti Province, Georgia. It was the birthplace of Georgian author Ilia Chavchavadze, whose one-storied house is preserved as a local museum.

Kvareli is an administrative-territorial unit in eastern Georgia, in the northeastern part of the Kakheti region. Until 1917, the territory of Kvareli Municipality was included in Telavi Mazra of Tbilisi Governorate; with the administrative division of 1921, the territory of Kvareli Municipality was again assigned to Telavi Mazra. 

Since 1930, it has been formed as a separate district. Currently, it is a municipality. Kvareli, located at the confluence of the Bursa and Duruji rivers, has been a city since 1964.
