Georgia: Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, a key figure in the country’s economic landscape, is actively participating in the annual meeting of the European Reconstruction and Development Bank (EBRD), a significant event for the economic development of Georgia and the South Caucasus region. This year, the meeting is being held in Yerevan, the capital of the Republic of Armenia.

Within the framework of the annual meeting, Deputy Minister of Finance Ekaterine Guntsadze held a panel titled “Georgia on the Global Stage: Opening Investment Opportunities” about the country’s economic situation. He spoke about the factors that, despite the challenges, contributed to the country’s financial resilience, maintaining international ratings, and implementing structural reforms.

Notable participants in the discussion included the Regional Director of the Bank for Reconstruction and Development of Europe in the South Caucasus Alkis Drakinos, CEO of Bank of Georgia Archil Gachechiladze, Vice President of Company Lineate Giorgi Tsikolia, and Executive Director of Business Association of Georgia Levan Vepkhvadze. Each of them shared valuable insights on the investment opportunities in Georgia, enlightening the audience about the country’s potential.

The thematic discussion revolved around Georgia’s competitive advantages, from its strategic location to growing businesses ready for global investments, including transport, technology, tourism and renewable energy.

A significant highlight was the announcement that in 2023, Georgia was awarded the status of EU candidate country, a major stride towards integration into the EU. This development is set to create even more opportunities for regional interconnections, fostering a sense of optimism about Georgia’s future.
