Georgia: The public defender Levan Ioseliani participated in the conference organized by the Georgian Parliament’s Temporary Committee working on Women and Children Affairs, on which achievements, challenges, and prospects were discussed in the field of inclusive and general education of preschool on December 17.
The Public Defender of Georgia shared the glimpses of the conference on its official Facebook Page on December 17, 2025, Wednesday. The Defender also shared a small note about the conference event along with its glimpses.
The Georgian Public Defender Levan Ioseliani gave a welcome speech at the event. In his speech, the Ombudsman emphasized the importance of access to education and coordinated work, which requires the collaboration of teachers, professional groups, and parents. “Despite the steps taken, there are still many serious challenges in the field that the public defender has identified within his work,” he added.
In the field of preschool education, the lack of inclusive education specialists in the regions is particularly emphasized. There is also a need to raise awareness among staff, improve access to children with various types of disabilities on kindergarten infrastructure, and effectively monitor inclusive preschool and education at the local level.
It is important in all municipalities to properly identify and refer students with Special Educational Needs (SSM) who are out of preschool education and refer them to appropriate services.
Regarding general education, it is important to use modern assistive technologies, alternative and augmented communication means, and to strengthen individualized support services in the teaching process of SSM students.
Schools need to strengthen professional supervision, inclusive education process coordination, and internal monitoring. The challenge is to work coordinately among members of individual curriculum groups and increase the involvement of parents of children with disabilities in the process. “Said the Public Ombudsman Levan Ioseliani.
