Georgia: In Tetritsqaro Municipality, in the village of Marabda, the liquid wallpaper enterprise of the company “Georgian Idea Fix Group” was launched within the framework of the rural development programme.
The amount of investment for setting up the enterprise amounted to more than 220,000 GEL, including the co-financing of the rural development programme for more than 170,000 GEL. The products are intended for both local and international markets.
Ilia Tamarashvili, director of the Rural Development Agency, and Nodar Kereselidze, manager of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) project “Improving Rural Development in Georgia”, got acquainted with the production process in the company “Georgian Idea Fix Group”.
“It is important for the Rural Development Agency to promote the development of non-agricultural areas in rural areas. The company, “The Georgian Idea Fix Group”, is a beneficiary of our agency, and what is very important, liquid wallpaper is produced in the enterprise, which is a secondary recycling product. Establishing similar approaches is a priority for our agency”, said Ilia Tamarashvili, director of the Rural Development Agency.
According to Nodar Kereselidze, manager of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) project “Improving Rural Development in Georgia”, the United Nations Development Program, funded by the European Union, implemented a grant program for businesses in rural areas.
A number of enterprises were financed within the framework of the mentioned program. The main goal of the projects implemented within the grant program is to diversify economic opportunities in rural areas, increase incomes, raise the level of social life, as well as environmental protection and sustainable management of natural resources.
The “Rural Development Program” is implemented by the Rural Development Agency (RDA) with the support of the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) within the framework of the “European Neighborhood Program for Rural and Agricultural Development” (ENPARD).
The rural development program is implemented in the municipalities of Keda, Khulo, Borjomi, Akhalkalaki, Tetritskaro, Kazbegi, Lagodekhi and Dedoplistskaro.
75 projects have been financed within the framework of the rural development program; the total investment value exceeds 10.9 million GEL, and co-financing is more than 7.6 million GEL.
