Liz Truss will fight for the British Prime Ministership

British Foreign Minister Liz Truss said in an interview with the Daily Telegraph that she will run for the post of Prime Minister. Liz Truss also said that the first thing she will do after taking office is to cut taxes. 

“I will fight in the elections as a conservative and rule the country as a conservative.” Liz Tras said. 

On July 7, the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Boris Johnson, resigned as the leader of the Conservative Party. He also resigned from Prime minister’ post last Thursday.

Johnson’s decision to step down as leader of the Conservative Party was preceded by a vote of no confidence in Johnson. 

The majority of conservative MPs did not express any confidence in him.

The grounds for the vote of no confidence are related to several recent scandalous cases surrounding Johnson’s government: holding parties in violation of covid regulations and possible cases of sexual harassment by former conservative MP Chris Pincher at different times. 

On July 6, Reuters reported that several people are being considered for Johnson’s position if he resigns, including acting foreign secretary Liz Truss, acting parliamentarian Jeremy Hunt and British defence secretary Ben Wallace.
