Tbilisi: Luka Janjghava from Technical University of Georgia won the Prestigious Red Dot Design award. She is not just a graduate of the International School of Design of the University but also becomes a teacher of the same faculty.
This year due to some technicality the competition was held in remote mode. After following the strict rules and regulations the jury members of the international experts awarded the victory in the product design category to Meama Versatile. This design which was selected of Meama Versatile is the same design on which Luka Janjghava of the Technical University of Georgia worked.
According to Nikoloz Shavishvili Dean of the International Design School of the Technical University of Georgia this is a proud moment for the University. Winning the Red Dot Design Award is a special success for the Technical University of Georgia and its faculty. This is also a great victory for the Georgian Design School in general.
After the great victory Nika Shavishvili stated specifically that “In the commercial space this is not only efficiency which plays an important role but also emotion have the taken into account. This was a surprising moment for me as at the international platform.”
The fact is that there are very impressive design works that competed to win but this is always the unique one that clinch the victory. It is to be added that in fact two Georgian designers won the Red Dot Design Award. The name of the first person is Erekle Inashvili who won the award for the design of “TBS Bank” cards.
The name of the other winner is Zviad Tsikolia who made the way in the design and packaging of the watch. It is also worth mentioning that Luka Janjghava is the first Georgian women who won in the category of product design as well as in the direction of the kitchen and electrical equipment.
She also expressed his gratitude towards the University administration for providing support to the students as well. The Red Dot Design Award is called the “Oscar” in the industrial design industry. The winners are selected in three areas including product design, brands and communication design, and design concept.
