As the world Muslim community is observing the month of Ramzan, an Iftar party was held for the Muslim community in the Marneuli municipality. This is a reflection of the unity in the country’s diverse culture.
This is not the first time a Georgian city has hosted an event for Muslims. A few days ago the Prime Minister also hosted an Iftar party for Muslim brothers. He also advocated that communal harmony is the first step for the overall development of any country.
State Commissioner of Lower Kartli Giorgi Dokhturishvili during his speech stated that the “Lower Georgian side is distinguished by its ethnic and religious diversity, the centuries-old tradition of peaceful coexistence, brotherhood and friendship which is very dear to us and we do everything to make sure that each member of society feels the importance of his role in this process.I would like to congratulate the Muslim community, wish you happiness, prosperity and success “.
The public attending the dinner(Iftar party ) was also addressed by the Mayor of Marneuli Municipality, Kenan Omarov, the Sheikh of All Georgia, Feig Nabiev, the Mufti of East Georgia, Etibar Eminov, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia, Feig Guliev, Members of the Parliament of Georgia, Savalan Mirzoev and Zaur Dargal, Chairman of the City Council, Amiran Giorgadze, and Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia, The Kazim Kartal.
Iftar was attended by the First Deputy State Trustee Giorgi Shinjikashvili, Deputy Mayor of Marneuli Municipality Zurab Phangan, other local government representatives, clergy and guests also.
The Muslim leaders addressed the guests and assured them of the commitment of the Muslim community to the better future of Georgia. The event was held in a big event hall that was full of guests.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the Muslim community has a significant presence in many parts of the country and dominates many constituencies as well. Iftar is the kind of food eaten after a daylong fast.
