Tbilisi: Mikheil Sarjveladze, the Minister of health of Georgia has condemned violent incidents occurred during ongoing protests. He assured medical services to all without any bias as constitutional duty.
It is worth noting the Minister of health was addressing the Parliament session when he commented in this regard. He specifically added that, “There is no justification for violence, no matter who it comes from, therefore my position on this matter is absolutely unwavering and violent actions are unjustified and intolerable.”
At the same time as per the Minister, the ministry provides the public with updated information on what kind of medical services were provided to the injured in connection with the ongoing protests.
“Emergency medical teams are deployed in more numbers than necessary in the places where these protests are taking place, and accordingly practically immediate medical assistance was provided to all people, regardless of their violent acts, both on the spot and throughout these days,” Mikheil Sarjveladze noted.
According to the minister, during the past day and night, 37 people were taken to clinics from the protests. The decision in this regard was taken to prevent any health damage to them.
The health minister further said “Out of these 37 people, 24 are protest participants, 12 are police officers and media representatives. We must say that the injuries that the police officers sustained are quite serious. They have caused injury among other things by throwing heavy metal objects etc.
Moreover as per minister these are quite noteworthy and dangerous injuries. I call on everyone without exception, to protect not only peace and order but also each other’s health. It is important for everyone to understand that shooting fireworks at people is a big danger.
He underlined further that, we have repeatedly told the public that this dangerous product is harmful. People should be careful in order to protect the lives and health of other people.
Every citizen of Georgia is free to hold protest rally however this right does not entitled anyone to use violence. The peacefully protests must be held to prevent any damage to live and property.
