The Minister of Health congratulated the honored scientist, academician Eter Kemertelidze on the 8th of March and the upcoming 100th anniversary.
The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health and Social Welfare of Georgia shared the glimpses of the event on its official Facebook Page on March 8, 2026, Sunday. The Ministry also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.
Mikheil Sarjveladze emphasized Eter Kemertelidze’s outstanding scientific ability and his great merit in the development of pharmacochemistry in Georgia. It was noted that the academician’s many years of scientific activity plays an important role in the development of Georgian science and medicine.
Eter Kemertelidze is the author of many scientific papers and research. He made a significant contribution to the development of the research on biologically active substances of plant origin and the establishment of this scientific direction in Georgia. Eter Kemertelidze is recognized as one of the founders of phytochemistry and pharmacochemistry in the country. Based on his guidance and research, an original treatment for various purposes has been created. The scientist has received 88 author certificates and patents.
The academician has received many personal awards, state and international recognition. He benefits from high authority in the international scientific community as well – was invited by the Nobel Committee of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences to present the Nobel Prize nominations in the field of chemistry and was also nominated for the International Peace Prize.
Eter Kemertelidze is still actively involved in scientific activities – cooperates with the Institute of Pharmacology and continues to do research.
The Minister of Health, together with Irakli Natroshvili, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University and University Chancellor Aleksandre Buachidze, visited the Institute of Pharmacology and got acquainted with the activities and ongoing research processes of the Institute.
