Minister awards winners of “Leonardo and Vinci” innovation contest

The Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, took part in the award ceremony of the winners of the competition of inventors and researchers, "Leonardo and Vinci".

The Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, took part in the award ceremony of the winners of the competition of inventors and researchers, “Leonardo and Vinci”.

During his speech, the Minister spoke about the importance of the project, which aims to stimulate, promote, and encourage students’ interest in innovation and technology.

Givi Mikanadze, together with Shota Rustaveli, the General Director of the National Scientific Foundation of Georgia, Teimuraz Dochvir, the winner of the competition grand prize, and the participants of the project that won first place, received medals and prizes.

Second and third place participants were awarded by Zviad Gabisonia, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth Affairs of Georgia, and Mariam Lashkh, Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, and Youth Affairs of the Georgian Parliament.

Owners of Grand Prix and 10,000 GEL became authors of the project: “Smart desk-organizer for the blind”. The first place and 5,000 GEL were awarded to the project: “System of deformation monitoring of bridges and buildings”, the second place and 3,000 GEL were given to the project: ”Synthesis and biological activity study of natural phenolic compounds modified by amino acids”.

Third place and 2,000 GEL were awarded to the project titled: “Peroxide, as the role of eco-ferment in bioremediation of water contaminated with paints”. Other successful participants were awarded with special prizes and vouchers from different organizations and companies.

The competition “Leonardo and Vinci” was held with the support of the Georgian Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth and organized by the Shota Rustaveli National Scientific Foundation. Pupils of VII-XII classes of Georgian state and private schools participate in it. The competition is carried out in the field of scientific research and engineering, and its aim is to attract the interest of young people from school age in the field of science and innovation.
