Georgia: The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture shared an announcement regarding the completion of the inventory of windshield lanes on their official Facebook page on 18 March, 2025. It is to be noted that this project will be finished throughout the nation by 1 January, 2027.
Furthermore, the Parliament adopted a draft of the amendments to the law of Georgia that concerned the “windshield line” during the general assembly of the spring session. According to the amendment, the Ministry expected to extend the period of the inventory process until January, 2027.
The national program of inventory of windshield lanes started in 2021. The inventory has carried out reconstruction works on 6675.53 hectares in 12 municipalities as of now.
Minister Nino Tandilashvili highlights importance of the project
The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture in the Georgian Parliament, Nino Tandilashvili, presented the project during the assembly. She highlighted the significance of starting the restoration / construction process of windshield lines while taking inventory.
Minister Tandilashvili said that the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring has been actively communicating with local municipalities and farmers.
She further added that at the first stage, they plan to reconstruct the territory of Sagarejo and Dedoplistskaro municipalities which is 32 hectares approximately. As these municipalities are agricultural areas, the development of wind turbines is of great importance in terms of soil protection.
