Georgia: The Minister of Justice of Georgia Anri Okhanashvili has appointed Irakli Beraia as New Deputy Minister of the Nation. This information was shared by the Ministry of Justice on January 13, 2925, Monday.
According to the Ministry of Justice, Irakli Beraia is an economist by profession. Before his political career, Irakli Beraia had a successful career in the banking sector,” the ministry’s statement notes.
“He graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Tbilisi State University, named after Ivane Javakhishvili. Irakli Beraia has many years of experience in legislative work; he was a member of the 9th, 10th, and 11th Parliaments of Georgia,” the Georgian Justice Ministry stated.
Irakli Beraia’s Statement on assets declaration
The New Deputy Minister in his formal statement disclosed that he is a co-owner of three private companies. At the end of 2023, Beraia filed his asset declaration, stating that he was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
He is married to Maia Gegeshidze. Archil and Mariam are the couple’s two children. The family has an apartment in Tbilisi, that was bought for $81,000 and is registered in Maia Gegeshidze’s name. At the end of 2022, Beraia paid $12,000 for a BMW car that he now owns.
Beraia also states that the former deputy, Beka Dzamashvili, has nine accounts at Cartu Bank. His own wife has a 3,500 GEL deposit at the same bank, while he only has 1,960.81 GEL in one of those accounts.
According to the asset declaration, Irakli Beraia owns shares in three companies, with ownership percentages ranging from 30% to 50%. Notably, the declaration states that he has not received any profits from these businesses. The three companies are:
- Project Management Company LLC,
- PMK 2013 LLC,
- PMK Real Estate LLC.
In 2019, Beraia received a parliamentary salary totaling 58,194.45 GEL, while his wife earned 48,840.3 GEL as the Deputy Head of a division at Cartu Bank.
