Georgia: The Deputy Director of the Georgian Maritime Transport Agency (MTA), Christina Rzgoeva, played a pivotal role in the success of the International Scientific Conference’ Future Maritime: Safety First’, organized by Batumi State Maritime Academy. Her presence and contributions underscore the local impact of this global event.
The conference was opened by the Minister of Education, Culture, and Sports of Adjara Maia Khajishvili. Christina Rzgoeva and Shota Kakabadze, vice-rector of the academy, addressed the participants and wished them success. The participants emphasized the importance and relevance of maritime security in international shipping.
“Maritime security is the most important and top priority, which does not lose its relevance and occupies a major place in the agenda of the International Maritime Organization.”
New technologies, modern service, higher education, and maritime safety are the four components that guarantee the successful development of the field. Accordingly, the Maritime Transport Agency will continue to implement innovative projects in this direction and implement modern, latest standards,” Christina Rzgoeva said in her speech.
The researchers and students from Georgia and foreign countries, Germany, Ukraine, Turkey, and Bulgaria, are participating in the conference, and the diversity of thematic topics distinguishes the presented research works:
- Safe and economical functioning of marine transport;
- Innovations in marine transport and education;
- Issues of justice in maritime and ship fields;
- Protecting the environment of the sea and coastline;
- Logistics of transport processes;
- Marine business, tourism and trade, and more.
The event, held with the generous support of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Adjara, was a fitting tribute to the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the 1974 International Convention on ‘Saving Life at Sea’ (SOLAS 1974). This dedication underscores the historical significance of our collective efforts in ensuring maritime safety.
