Georgia: The Director of the Maritime Transport Agency (MTA), Alexi Akhvlediani, opened the “Employment Forum 2024” organized by the Poti branch of Batumi State Maritime Academy and addressed the participants with a welcome speech.

During the welcome speech, Alexi Akhvlediani stated, “Academy Poti branch traditionally continues to support students in career progression and development. We welcome this initiative and believe there is a bilaterally beneficial work being done to empower students and the private sectors.”

“Development of the field in the long term is impossible without human resources training. That’s why maritime education, harbor, logistics, and customs development is our special focus,” he mentioned.

The minister also said, “We are ready to work with companies and employers and train the specialists they need because one thing is to educate and the other is to successfully employ them in their country.”

“We are happy that the contingent is growing in the Poti branch year after year, and higher educational and professional programs are added. All conditions in the school are really designed to train high-level professionals. “I am here to say that our unprecedented support has been to the Poti branch and will continue to be so in the future,” noted Alexi Akhvlediani.

Nino Khorava, head of the Batumi State Maritime Academy Poti branch, addressed the guests with a welcoming speech.

“The employment forum, which is being held for the second time at the Poti branch, serves on the one hand to employ our students and graduates and on the other hand to provide qualified personnel for our employers. It’s a chain reaction. We try our best to offer aspirants in-demand professions and specializations to help eliminate the shortage of skilled personnel in the labor market. This is confirmed by the high employment rate of our graduates”, – Nino Khorava noted.

About 20 organizations participated in the forum: representatives of port, cruising, hotel, logistics, tourist, banking, insurance, and construction companies introduced their organizations to the audience and presented active vacancies.

In one exhibition space, young people had the opportunity to interview organizations of interest to them and receive employment offers from them.
