A canoe-kayak competition-cum-festival was held in Mtskheta. The festival was supported by the Mtskheta Rowing Academy and the International Foundation for Sports, Tourism, and Youth.
The event was attended by Dimitri Khundadze the majority member of the Parliament of Georgia, Givi Giutashvili  the first deputy mayor of Mtskheti Municipality, Tariel Khechikashvili  the president of the International Foundation for Sports, Tourism and Youth, and Viktor Dlezheshvili  the director of the Mtskheti Rowing Academy  along with dignitaries of the municipality.
It is to be noted that young people from Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli, Ajara, and Samegrelo regions actively participated. According to the festival organizers  the main objective of the festival was to encourage young, talented athletes to participate in sports activities. The event will also popularize the sport and establish a healthy lifestyle among the youth.
At the end of the event  the winners were selected. All the winners were awarded paid gifts and other prizes. The City Hall of Mtskheti Municipality wishes all the best to all rowers participating in the festival, a successful career, and progress in sports competitions.
Some of the young participants arrived with their family members to participate in the event. All the participants were given safety equipment (life-saving jackets) before the beginning of the race.
The young people seemed very happy and energetic about being part of the event. Soon after the event’s end  the prize distribution awarding ceremony was held at the banks of the river.
The winners and all the sportspersons who competed to win thanked the organizers for providing them with this fantastic opportunity to display their skills. They also stated that such events must be held frequently so that the maximum number of people can benefit from them in the future as well.
On the other hand  the organizer also expressed satisfaction with the enthusiastic response of the local youth to the tournament. They also assured that efforts would be made to organise such events frequently in the future. They congratulated the winners and wished them all the best for a bright career in sports.
