Poti, Georgia: The opening ceremony of the container terminal of the new multimodal complex took place in the Georgian city of Poti on June 9, 2025, Monday. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Guram Guramishvili.

The Economy Minister opened the event and addressed the present community with a welcome speech. In his speech, he noted that the terminal is an example of cooperation between the countries participating in the middle corridor because of their contribution to the project – both in terms of construction, investment, and operations afterward.
According to him, “The opening of a multimodal terminal is a joy because for years there has not been an investment of this volume and such a modern terminal has not been launched.”
He added that the workers in the transport sector, who are aware of the structure of the mid-corridor transportation, will notice that the terminal is fully adapted to block carriers.” “It is through their quality service that will make the mid-corridor a more competitive route, which is very important for them,” said Guram Guramishvili.
The multi-modal terminal project was implemented by SS “Poti Transterminal“, which is a company founded jointly by the Kazakh and Georgian sides.
The investment value of the project is 31.5 million US dollars. The terminal is located near the Port of Poti, located on more than 9 hectares, with its annual operation, in the first phase, will contain more than 80,000 containers.
In addition, as reported in “Poti Transterminal“, the terminal will serve up to 120 rail cars at the same time and will employ more than 100 people. The terminal will serve both international and local shipments. It is also important to recycle cargo for regional purposes to Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.
Kasim Tlepov, Kazakh Ambassador to Georgia Malik Murzalin, and representatives of China and Azerbaijan participated in the opening ceremony of the Poti Multimodal Terminal.
