Nagomari hosts “Ozurgeti Cup 2025” horse racing competition

Georgia: The village of Nagomari hosted the horse racing competition “Ozurgeti Cup – 2025,” where four races were held across different distances and a total of 12 prizes were awarded.

• Nagomri Cup – 2000 m. 3-year-old purebred horses – Prize fund: 3,300 GEL

1. First place – Levan Kalandia (Poti)
2. Second place – Giorgi Dzagania (Kazbegi)
3. Third place – Saba Khurtsia (Abasha)

• Peace Cup – 2400 m. Half pure blood horses – Prize fund: 2,500 GEL

1. First place – Saba Ekhvaia (Zugdidi)
2. Second place – Lizi Khoperia (Chokhatauri)
3. Third place – Saba Mushkudiani (Kutaisi)

• Gurian Riders Cup – 1400 m. 2-year-old pure-blood horses – Prize fund: 5,000 GEL

1. First place – Giorgi Mzhavanadze (Ozurgeti)
2. Second place – Gabriel Goglidze (Ozurgeti)
3. Third place – Giorgi Tsintsadze (Chokhatauri)

• Ozurgeti Cup – 2400 m. Purebred horses of older age – Prize fund: 5,500 GEL

1. First place – Saba Khurcia (Chokhatauri)
2. Second place – Giorgi Mzhavanadze (Ozurgeti)
3. Third place – Giorgi Tsintsadze (Ozurgeti)

Riders participating in the Dog were awarded with seals, medals, and trophies. Mayor of Ozurgeti Avtandil Talakvadze, Delegate of Guria in the Parliament of Georgia Vasil Chigogidze, State Trustee of Guria Giorgi Gurjumelidze, and Chairman of the City Council Davit Tarkia.

Avtandil Talakvadze noted, “In the village Nagomari, horse riding competition ‘Ozurgeti Cup – 2025’ we successfully held this year as well. It is noteworthy that this year, two old Georgian equestrian sports games – “Isindi” (shooting) and “Horseball” have been added to the equestrian competition. “

“Congratulations to the winners and thanks to the participants from all municipalities! Thanks to the staff of Ozurgeti City Hall and the Union of Sports and Health Institutions of the Municipality for holding the event at a high level,” he added.

Two old Georgian equestrian sports games, “Isindi” (shooting) and “Horseball”, have been added to this year’s equestrian competition, with the total prize money of 2500 GEL.

Ozurgeti and Martvili participated in this old game. The winner was the Ozurgeti team, which was awarded by Koba Balavinov, the director of the Union of Sports and Health Institutions, and Avto Martikov, the head of the Union’s Equestrian Section.

It is also noteworthy that the event held in Nagomari ended with the concert of the group “Regioni” and fireworks.
