Georgia: The National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, celebrated the 100th birth anniversary of Ana Kaladze, a Georgian poet and one of the most influential female figures in modern Georgian literature.
It is worth noting that the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia hosted an evening dedicated to the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Georgian poet Ana Kalandadze Academy of Sciences of Georgia.
The Ministry of Culture of Georgia shared glimpses of the event on its official Facebook page today. Along with the photographs, the Ministry also shared a small note about the event. According to the Ministry’s note, it was figured that the Deputy Minister of Culture of Georgia Giorgi Mirtschulava attended the anniversary event.
It is noteworthy that, the president of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia Roin Metreveli, together with academics, poets, and literary connoisseurs remembered important episodes of the life and work of the prominent representative of Georgian poetry, poet-academician. In addition, it was noted that Ana Kalandadze’s greatest contribution to Georgian poetry of the twentieth century was also celebrated at the event.
During the celebratory event, the pupils of 20th-century public schools read out the famous poems of the poet. The fragments of the documentary film dedicated to Ana Kalandadze were also shown in the evening as a part of the celebration.
It should be noted that Tina Kandareli gave a thank-you speech on behalf of Ana Kalandadze’s family and addressed the organizers of the anniversary event.
Notably, the attending society learned about the two books released under the Ministry of Culture’s auspices. These include a book album containing 200 photographs of Badri Vadachkoria and 100 of the poet’s poems, as well as Ana Kalandadze’s manuscript, from which she presented the society with its first poems in 1946. Ioseb Chumburidze, a writer and publicist, is the author of the publication’s concept and project.
