Georgia: The National Archive of Georgia will host the Uzbek Cinema Day on July 11, 2024. The event is organized within the Uzbek Culture Days by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia and the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan and organized by the National Cinema Center.

The viewers will have the opportunity to watch three well-known Uzbek films, which were made with the financial support of the Uzbek National Cinema Center.

“Waiting” is the work of the Uzbek director Jakhengira Akhmedova, released in 2020. The film is based on historical facts and tells the story of a mother who lost five sons in the civil war. The tragic life of Zulifia Zakirova inspired the director’s face of the main character. The protagonist waited until the end of his life that his children, despite the deportations received from the authorities, would return safely from the war.

Arko Shakhnazarov’s 2022 feature film “Flight 101” is a work of biographical genre, which tells us about the pilot from Tashkent – Zafir Saizadimov.

A few days before his retirement, on September 11, 2001, Saizadimov found himself in a Boeing 757 on that fateful day at Kennedy International Airport but failed to reach its destination. The film offers a Uzbek perspective on the tragedy that moved the world.

Elkin Tuichiev’s 2022 film Change, whose main character is a former Soviet soldier, responds to the theme of war. Far from his homeland in the hot East, the protagonist, fired for work, returns to his homeland after overcoming challenging obstacles. The film depicts an individual’s existential odyssey from military mission to home.
