Georgia: The scientific information conference “Georgian Archives” was held in the National Archive of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia on Saturday.
The National Archives of Georgia shared the glimpses of the scientific information conference on its Official Facebook Page on June 13, 2026 . The Georgian National Archives also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.
According to the small note shared by the National Archives of Georgia, it should be noted that the main aim of the conference was promoting internal professional development; summarizing and analyzing current work; sharing experiences and news in both archival activities and scientific research; and encouraging closer connections between archives and strengthening institutional culture.
Employees of the National Archives from Tbilisi and regions presented reports on Georgian history, cultural heritage, archeology, and outstanding funds and collections preserved in regional archives at the conference.
The event was held during the International Week of Archives, and it was opened by Deputy Minister of Justice Merab Turava and Director General of the National Archives Teona Iashvili.
In parallel with the conference, the exhibition “Georgian Archives” was opened in the exhibition pavilion of the National Archives, which will introduce the general public to the documentary heritage and historical photographic materials preserved in the Central and Regional Archives of Georgia.
The exhibition is included in the international calendar of events for the “International Week of Archives” initiated by the International Council of Archives (ICA), which once again emphasizes the importance of Georgian archives in the world archive space.
It is worth noting that the National Archives of Georgia, as a member of ICA, celebrates the International Week of Archives with different events every year.
