National Center for Development of Quality Education joins Erasmus+ project

As a partner institution, the National Center for the Development of Quality of Education is involved in the Erasmus+ project – “Responsible Management of Research – Research Integrity and Ethics in Georgian Universities (ETHICS).”

Erasmus+ is the EU’s program to support education, training, youth, and sport in Europe. It has an estimated budget of €26.2 billion.

Within the partnership, the accreditation framework of experts in higher education programs will be implemented to evaluate of PhD educational programs.

The core objective of the Erasmus+ project is ‘Research with Integrity‘—to launch a systematic improvement intervention to improve the quality of University research through measures to adhere to the foundations of high-quality readers and excellence in Georgian universities.

The project’s goal is to develop scientific activity, taking into account the latest scientific research and academic achievements. It also reflects research ethics and goodwill in the process of evaluating authorization and accreditation.

It is worth noting that within the project, the framework of the doctoral education framework document developed by the Center, approved by the order of the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia on August 30, 2024, was refined.

The training cycle involves sharing the European experience of evaluating doctoral programs for accreditation experts, familiarizing them with the framework document requirements of the updated doctoral programs, including sharing research ethics and goodwill standards and assessment characteristics and providing other useful information.

Along with the National Center for the Development of Education Quality, the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, SIP – Shota Rustaveli National Scientific Foundation, 10 Georgian and 4 European universities are partners of the project.

At this stage, online training was held with experts in educational program accreditation and the Center’s Higher Education Quality Assurance Service staff.

The cycle of training will be held step by step until March 1, 2025, during which time 230 accreditation experts will be trained.

The Erasmus+ program is managed by the European Commission (the EU’s executive body), the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), a series of National Agencies in Programme countries, and a series of National Offices in some Partner countries.
