Georgia: Within the framework of the Winter Youth Olympic Games, Seok President Leri Khabelov and President of the National Figure Skating Federation of Georgia Mariam Giorgobiani met with the President of the International Figure Skating Union Jeul Kim in Gangwon (South Korea).
At the meeting, they discussed the development of figure skating in Georgia and plans. SEOK President Leri Khabelov emphasized the particular importance of figure skating among winter sports and the success achieved in recent years, which is due to the active cooperation and growing support of the State, the Ministry of Sports, the Olympic Committee and the Figure Skating Federation, the critical efforts of Federation President Mariam Giorgobiani.
Leri Khabelov provided information to the President of the International Skating Union about the preparation for the 2025 European Winter Youth Olympic Festival, the festival in Tbilisi and the construction of ice rinks in Batumi.
The President of the International Skating Union expressed his satisfaction with the construction of these critical infrastructure facilities and expressed his belief that the new skating rinks will contribute to the emergence of talented young people and the development of figure skating in Georgia.
As he noted, Georgian skaters are already a severe reckoning force on international Serbia, and shortly, they will have their say at the Winter Olympic Games.
“You can do it with teamwork and the International Skating Union’s support, ” said Jeul Kim. He thanked the President of the Olympic Committee for his active support of figure skating in Georgia.
